Types of Orthodontic Appliances

Traditional Metal Braces

metal braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

Clear (Ceramic) Braces

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

Dr. Reisner has been treating patients with clear aligner therapy since the inception some 20 years ago. Like all technology, we have evolved and here at SmileStudio201 we offer state-of-the-art aligners that are designed by Dr. Reisner, not a lab tech

We have 3D printing capabilities and offer In-House aligners by utilizing software designed specifically for Orthodontists.

After your records appointment, Dr. Reisner will design a clear aligner therapy treatment specifically for your needs. At the consultation appointment, you will be able to see how we anticipate the tooth movement to progress and give you an idea of your final result.

Your Progress

For best results, clear aligners need to be worn 20-22 hours a day. You cannot eat or drink anything besides plain water with your aligners in your mouth. The aligners are only removed for eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth. The aligners will gently guide your teeth into position, one set of aligners at a time.
